A family definition in fonts_customization.xml alone is inert -- it needs a switcher RRO (config_bodyFontFamily override) to actually be selectable as the active system font, same as every other font here.

# android_vendor_addons (PawletOS)
|
|
|
|
Fonts-only subset of AxionOS's `vendor/addons`, vendored at
|
|
`vendor/addons` (path kept identical to upstream so `config.mk`'s
|
|
internal `vendor/addons/...` references don't need rewriting).
|
|
|
|
Scope decision: AxionOS's real `vendor_addons` also bundles ~80
|
|
per-clock-face RRO overlays (`themes/lockscreenclockfonts/`), unrelated
|
|
prebuilt apps (Lawnchair, Lawnicons, BCR, ScreenshotEditor,
|
|
SystemUIClocks), and gestural-navigation overlays. None of that is
|
|
pulled in here — only the system-wide font set and the RRO modules that
|
|
switch the platform's default font family. See
|
|
`notes/axion-port-plan.md` item 3 for the original scoping call
|
|
("Do not pull in wholesale").
|
|
|
|
## License status per subtree
|
|
|
|
- `themes/fonts/*Overlay/` (6 AxionOS-derived modules: ExtFont, Fucek,
|
|
Inter, RobotoFlex, Roboto, Rookery) — Apache-2.0, per-file headers
|
|
preserved verbatim (AxionOS Project / Proton AOSP / risingOS,
|
|
depending on module). Low risk. Plus `FontArcticonsSansOverlay/`,
|
|
PawletOS's own, same pattern, Apache-2.0.
|
|
- `prebuilt/product/etc/fonts_customization.xml` + `Android.bp` — no
|
|
license header upstream; a declarative family-name-to-file mapping,
|
|
low originality/low risk to redistribute or reimplement.
|
|
- `prebuilt/product/fonts/*.ttf`, `*.otf` — **no LICENSE file upstream,
|
|
real redistribution risk.** Includes Google Sans (Google), Nothing
|
|
"Ndot" (Nothing Technology), Motorola MotoMilkyStacked (Motorola),
|
|
alongside properly-licensed Inter (SIL OFL) and Roboto/RobotoFlex
|
|
(Apache-2.0). Committed as-is per explicit, informed user decision —
|
|
see `notes/axion-port-plan.md` item 3 and the port-plan's Phase 2
|
|
selection notes for the verbatim confirmation. To be replaced with
|
|
properly-licensed alternatives if/when found; because git history is
|
|
permanent, a future replace does not remove this exposure from past
|
|
commits.
|
|
- `prebuilt/product/fonts/ArcticonsSans-Regular.otf` — PawletOS's own
|
|
font, Apache-2.0, no licensing risk. Previously its own repo
|
|
(`fonts_ArcticonsSans`, retired) with a self-contained
|
|
`runtime_resource_overlay` module that bundled its own
|
|
`res/xml/fonts_customization.xml`; that specific mechanism doesn't
|
|
actually work (RRO can't inject a raw `/product/etc` file into
|
|
another package). Consolidated to the same two-part pattern as the
|
|
other 6 fonts: family defined in the shared
|
|
`prebuilt/product/etc/fonts_customization.xml`, selected as the
|
|
active system font by its own switcher overlay,
|
|
`FontArcticonsSansOverlay/`.
|
|
|
|
## Build wiring
|
|
|
|
`config.mk` is inherited from `vendor/pawlet/config/common.mk`
|
|
(`$(call inherit-product-if-exists, vendor/addons/config.mk)`) so every
|
|
PawletOS device target picks it up.
