95bf04298e treewide: Remove libcamera::LOG(...) occurrences
When a class inherits from `Loggable`, it will have a protected `_log()`
function and that will be used instead of the global `_log()` function in the
expansion of the `LOG()` macro. However, if such a class has static member
functions, then simply writing `LOG()` will not work because name lookup will
find the non-static member function and not the global function, resulting in
a compiler error because the non-static member cannot be invoked without an
object, and there is no object in a static member function.

This can be avoided by using `using libcamera::_log;`, thereby bringing the
global declaration into the current scope.

cdc2620549 libcamera: Add support for V4L2 requests
The V4L2 requests API provides support to atomically tie controls to a
set of buffers. This is especially common for m2m devices. Such a
request is represented by an fd that is allocated via
MEDIA_IOC_REQUEST_ALLOC and then passed to the various V4L2 functions.

Implement a V4L2Request class to wrap such an fd and add the
corresponding utility functions.

626172a16b libcamera: Drop file name from header comment blocks
Source files in libcamera start by a comment block header, which
includes the file name and a one-line description of the file contents.
While the latter is useful to get a quick overview of the file contents
at a glance, the former is mostly a source of inconvenience. The name in
the comments can easily get out of sync with the file name when files
are renamed, and copy & paste during development have often lead to
incorrect names being used to start with.

Readers of the source code are expected to know which file they're
looking it. Drop the file name from the header comment block.

The change was generated with the following script:

----------------------------------------

dirs="include/libcamera src test utils"

declare -rA patterns=(
	['c']=' \* '
	['cpp']=' \* '
	['h']=' \* '
	['py']='# '
	['sh']='# '
)

for ext in ${!patterns[@]} ; do
	files=$(for dir in $dirs ; do find $dir -name "*.${ext}" ; done)
	pattern=${patterns[${ext}]}

	for file in $files ; do
		name=$(basename ${file})
		sed -i "s/^\(${pattern}\)${name} - /\1/" "$file"
	done

This misses several files that are out of sync with the comment block
header. Those will be addressed separately and manually.

96ed45b971 libcamera: v4l2_device: Workaround faulty control menus
Some UVC cameras have been identified that can provide V4L2 menu
controls without any menu items.

This leads to a segfault where we try to construct a

Convert the v4l2ControlInfo and v4l2MenuControlInfo helper functions to
return std::optional<ControlInfo> to be able to account in the caller if
the control is valid, and only add acceptable controls to the supported

Menu controls without a list of menu items are no longer added as a
valid control and a warning is logged.

This also fixes a potential crash that would have occured in the
unlikely event that a ctrl.minimum was set to less than 0.

d09c2bb127 libcamera: colorspace: Rectify the ColorSpace::Srgb preset
Rectify the ColorSpace::Srgb to denote that it does not use
any Y'Cbcr encoding and uses full range.

The kernel on the other hand, recommends to use Rec601 as the encoding

inferred that the kernel assumes V4L2_COLORSPACE_SRGB is a YUV-encoded
one. However, when the data is in RGB, no encoding is required (and
this is denoted by YcbcrEncoding::None in libcamera).

Hence, to be clear on the libcamera colorspace API, rectify the

a17f0eddc6 libcamera: color_space: Rename Jpeg to Sycc
The JPEG color space is badly name, as the JPEG specification (ITU-T
T.81) doesn't define any particular color space:

    The interchange format does not specify a complete coded image
    representation. Application-dependent information, e.g. colour
    space, is outside the scope of this Specification.

The JFIF specification (ITU-T T.871) is clearer as it requires ITU-R
BT.601 YCbCr encoding and a full quantization range:

  The interpretations of Y, CB, and CR are derived from the E'Y, E'Cb,
  and E'Cr signals defined in the 625-line specification of Rec. ITU-R
  BT.601, but these signals are normalized so as to permit the usage of
  the full range of 256 levels of the 8-bit binary encoding of the Y
  component.

It however doesn't specify color primaries or a transfer function
explicitly. It only mentions the latter when describing the conversion
from YCbCr to RGB:

  The inverse relationship for computing full scale 8-bit per colour
  channel gamma pre-corrected RGB values (following Rec. ITU-R BT.601
  gamma pre-correction and colour primary specifications) from YCbCr
  colours (with 256 levels per component) can be computed as follows:
  [...]

Given that ITU-R BT.601-5 (1995) didn't specify color primaries or a
transfer function, and that the later ITU-R BT.601-7 (2011) version
specifies color primaries for the 625-line variant that do not match
sRGB, the JPEG color space in libcamera is badly named. This is
confirmed by ITU-T T.871:

  As this Recommendation | International Standard is based on the prior
  informally-circulated JFIF version 1.02 specification that was
  produced in 1992, which referenced Rec. ITU-R BT.601 (formerly CCIR
  601), it references that specification for definition of the E'Y,
  E'Cb, and E'Cr signals that correspond to the YCBCR values specified
  herein. However, since the development of the prior JFIF version 1.02
  specification, additional industry specifications have been developed,
  Rec. ITU-R BT.601 has been updated, and common industry practice has
  emerged which often follows the sYCC specification in IEC
  61966-2-1/Amd.1. The difference between the use of the colour
  interpretation specification in this Recommendation | International
  Standard and that of the sYCC specification may be considered
  negligible in practice.

Rename the color space to sYCC, as its definition matches the sYCC
standard, and indicate that it is typically used to encode JPEG images.

These functions are added to the base V4L2Device class so that they can

therefore a convenient implementation, and we must explicitly

3335d5a504 libcamera: Drop emitter object pointer from signal arguments
Many signals used in internal and public APIs carry the emitter pointer
as a signal argument. This was done to allow slots connected to multiple
signal instances to differentiate between emitters. While starting from
a good intention of facilitating the implementation of slots, it turned
out to be a bad API design as the signal isn't meant to know what it
will be connected to, and thus shouldn't carry parameters that are
solely meant to support a use case specific to the connected slot.

These pointers turn out to be unused in all slots but one. In the only
case where it is needed, it can be obtained by wrapping the slot in a
lambda function when connecting the signal. Do so, and drop the emitter
pointer from all signals.

b48db3c489 libcamera: controls: Create ControlInfoMap with ControlIdMap
ControlInfoMap does not have a ControlId map associated, but rather
creates one with the generateIdMap() function at creation time.

As a consequence, when in the need to de-serialize a ControlInfoMap all
the ControlId it contains are created by the deserializer instance, not
being able to discern if the controls the ControlIdMap refers to are the
global libcamera controls (and properties) or instances local to the
V4L2 device that has first initialized the controls.

As a consequence the ControlId stored in a de-serialized map will always
be newly created entities, preventing lookup by ControlId reference on a
de-serialized ControlInfoMap.

In order to make it possible to use globally available ControlId
instances whenever possible, create ControlInfoMap with a reference to
an externally allocated ControlIdMap instead of generating one
internally.

As a consequence the class constructors take and additional argument,
which might be not pleasant to type in, but enforces the concepts that
ControlInfoMap should be created with controls part of the same id map.

As the ControlIdMap the ControlInfoMap refers to needs to be allocated
externally:
- Use the globally available controls::controls (or
  properties::properties) id map when referring to libcamera controls
- The V4L2 device that creates ControlInfoMap by parsing the device's
  controls has to allocate a ControlIdMap
- The ControlSerializer that de-serializes a ControlInfoMap has to
  create and store the ControlIdMap the de-serialized info map refers to

a5f8ab82df libcamera: V4L2Control: remove V4L2Control classes
V4L2ControlId and V4L2ControlInfo are just convenience classes to
create ControlId and ControlInfo from v4l2_query_ext_control.
Therefore, there is no need of being a class. It is used only
from V4L2Device. This removes the classes and put the equivalent
functions of creating ControlId and ControlInfo in
v4l2_device.cpp.

The minimum and maximum vblanking can change when a new format is
applied to the sensor subdevice, so be sure to retrieve up-to-date
values.

The V4L2Device acquires the new updateControlInfo() method to perform
this function, and which the CameraSensor calls automatically if its
setFormat method is used to update the sensor.

However, not all pipeline handlers invoke the setFormat method
directly, so the new method must be made publicly available for
pipeline handlers to call if they need to.

93e72b695e libcamera: Move internal headers to include/libcamera/internal/
The libcamera internal headers are located in src/libcamera/include/.
The directory is added to the compiler headers search path with a meson
include_directories() directive, and internal headers are included with
(e.g. for the internal semaphore.h header)

  #include "semaphore.h"

All was well, until libcxx decided to implement the C++20
synchronization library. The __threading_support header gained a

  #include <semaphore.h>

to include the pthread's semaphore support. As include_directories()
adds src/libcamera/include/ to the compiler search path with -I, the
internal semaphore.h is included instead of the pthread version.
Needless to say, the compiler isn't happy.

Three options have been considered to fix this issue:

- Use -iquote instead of -I. The -iquote option instructs gcc to only
  consider the header search path for headers included with the ""
  version. Meson unfortunately doesn't support this option.

- Rename the internal semaphore.h header. This was deemed to be the
  beginning of a long whack-a-mole game, where namespace clashes with
  system libraries would appear over time (possibly dependent on
  particular system configurations) and would need to be constantly
  fixed.

- Move the internal headers to another directory to create a unique
  namespace through path components. This causes lots of churn in all
  the existing source files through the all project.

The first option would be best, but isn't available to us due to missing
support in meson. Even if -iquote support was added, we would need to
fix the problem before a new version of meson containing the required
support would be released.

The third option is thus the only practical solution available. Bite the
bullet, and do it, moving headers to include/libcamera/internal/.

The V4L2Device::getControls() function takes a ControlList that needs to

of control IDs, and returning a ControlList.
